My name is Laura Jacob and I am the educational technology coach for McGuffey High School, located in Claysville, PA. Our German teacher, Pam Stewart (stewartp@mcguffey.k12.pa.us) and I decided to complete a collaborative project with the German 3-4 students and the virtual world, Second Life. During the week of December 16, 2008-December 19, 2008 the German 3 and 4 students will explore the Dresden Gallery and report on the various artwork (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dresden%20Gallery/81/120/361).
We would also like to add a German conversation piece to the experience and have the students speak German with the other avatars. We invite anyone to join us Eastern Standard Time from 9:12-9:54 am and 10:42-11:24 am (SLT 6:12-6:54 am, 7:42-8:24 am) the entire week. We would like the students to be able to meet and discuss with other students around the world in German. Our anticipation is that the students will be more willing to experiment with their German language skills in the virtual world. We would like to see if that theory is true. We invite anyone in the school system to come explore with us and share in the learning experience.
