Social Presence presents: SLoodle Workshop

This week's SL workshop is on tonight, March 2, 2009 at 14:00SLT/PST at Insula Docta TCD (slurl http://tinyurl.com/ddnypn). The workshop is hosted by Josmas Flores. He will walk us through the SLoodle HUD, an amazing virtual environment learning system that mashups Moodle and Second Life. “Imagine a Moodle course that, if you wanted, could turn into a proper 3D interactive classroom with all your Moodle resources available to your students in the virtual world” (Google Code).

SLoodle stands for “Simulation Linked Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment.” It is a 3D online education system for the virtual world of Second Life, based on the popular open-source course management system known as Moodle. The project is integrating Moodle’s virtual learning environment into the 3D environment of Second Life, adding the 3D interactive capabilities of the virtual world atop Moodle’s course-management tools.

Sloodle provides a range of tools for supporting learning and teaching to the immersive virtual world; tools which are integrated with a tried and tested leading web-based learning management system (Moodle). Such tools include:

 Registration booth.
 Quiz tool and 3D Drop Box. Assess in Second Life – grade in Moodle.
