Hi, all,

First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I am completely new to games and learning. I currently teach 7th grade language arts in a small town in southern Illinois. I have just started working on my master's degree in educational technology at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. I must admit that I am so excited about this field that I am thinking of continuing on to my PhD. In just the last week, I have listened to all of the RezEd podcasts and the thought of using games and virtual worlds to enhance and promote learning has me stoked. I have been a gamer for my entire life, but it has never occurred to me to combine my love of gaming with my career.

I just stumbled across a new game design tool called Atmosphir. Currently, it's in beta and while not technically a virtual world, I am intrigued by its proposed ease of use and collaboration potential. Just imagine reading a short story in your textbook and then asking teams of students to recreate a key scene in Atmosphir. I would love to hear what others think.

I've included links so others may check this tool out. Thanks for your time. Have a great weekend.
