the faculty/librarian would have the paid account. The students would not have to have an account. The student could be invited into the Adobe connect pro "room" or the room could be left open for the student to enter. Usually each faculty/librarian has their own account. I guess you could share an account, but you would need to discuss that with Adobe. It would certainly work well for walking online students through your databases. You can talk to the students using a headset or on a telephone conference call. You can have up to 100 simultaneous users. Try this link to read more about the program http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatconnectpro/

So, tell me more about Adobe Connect Pro. Could we, for example, put a link on our library webpage that lets students log on with a click and connect to whoever is on duty at the time? Would the student have to create an account before they could log on? I was looking for something that would launch from inside SL but this could solve some of the other major problems we have been having with trying to walk online students through learning to use our databases.

Your college will need to purchase an account from Adobe. You log into your Adobe connect pro account with a web browser. Then you start second life and sign into second life. You go back to the web browser and choose share my screen. whoever is logged into the adobe connect pro account, will see your screen, on which you have second life running. I would demo it for you, but I am taking off to yellowstone for a month.

And you can use it inside Second Life?? Great! Do you know a SLURL where I can see it running? How do I set it up?

yes I have used it with colleagues and it is a quality product.

Have you used connect pro yet

Hi, There is a program called Adobe Connect pro that will allow you to do this. My college just got some accounts and I plan to use it with my students this fall to demo second life.

I'm looking for a way to open a window inside SL that will show real-time activity from my computer desktop. I've seen webinars that have three frames: one with a chat box, one with live video of the instructor, and one with the instructor's desktop so students could see everything the instructor was typing. That third window is what I want to be able to open in SL -- on a screen much like we pull in YouTube videos now. Does anyone know of any vendor who might be working on this? I have a little grant money and I would be happy to support the development of such software if I can.
