Kae, hopefully more administration will get on board. Don Margulis, who you may remember from the spring presentation we did in SL, is faculty fellow this semester and is looking closely on the use of virtual worlds, particularly gaming, in curriculum. We have also had some CCSSE interest as well.

WANTED: Guest educators

Two energetic TAFE educators here in South Australia - Ruth Frazer and Jacinta Ryan - have been working with customer service trainees who are setting up and running an event in Second Life -- and they want YOU to help them.

It should take no more than 10 minutes or so of you time -- more info here: http://blogs.educationau.edu.au/kjohnson/2009/08/31/wanted-guest-educators/

"Goblincakes? Behold! As soft as the Winterfall Snow, bursting with artificial lemon flavor, aerodynamically designed so that every bite slides down into your stomach at the speed of maximum enjoyment! Give me 25 silver!"

Sorry... couldn't resist.

I went looking for an old post in my WoW blog, which I can't share because sometimes it's a bit raunchy, about math. Found it. Want to share. We all know about the literacy opportunities in WoW; here's some of the math. Actually, the kid makes a logic mistake common to word problems which creates a great need-to-know opportunity for thinking-it-through.

The entry:
----------------
This afternoon, the new kid in the guild was chatting on the guild chat. Mostly I wasn't "listening" but then a snippet caught my eye.

"I just realized I can make 400 muffins an hour and if I sold them for 1 copper each, I could make 40 silver in 10 minutes."

One of our senior guild mates engaged him in chat to discover what these muffins were (magic muffins, which made me remember the muffins bit in the Illegal Danish movie, which made no sense at the time). I gather this is a cooking thing or alchemy or something.

After a few minutes, he posted again in guild chat, and you just know he had been calculating this answer in the space between his remarks:

"I could make 2.4 gold an hour."

Not sure this is a good thing, but:

Yah, tweet inside WoW... not something I'd go for myself, but...
