- About Me:
- Joyce Bettencourt is an artist, interactive designer and digital media producer whose focus is where creativity, community, social good and the future converge online.
Joyce is co-founder and Creative Director of The Vesuvius Group, a collaborative studio specializing in developing online immersive and social environments for learning and community-building. She is co-founder of the non-profit, AvaCon, Inc. dedicated to promoting the growth, enhancement, and development of the metaverse, virtual worlds, augmented reality, and 3D immersive spaces, including running the yearly SLCC conference for Second Life users. She is also organizer of numerous social good online events, including the Virtual Haiti Relief campaign within the virtual world of Second Life that helped raise awareness and $10,000.00 USD in virtual micro transactions.
Her prior professional experience includes working as a new media designer and interactive producer for the education focused non-profit Global Kids, Inc. supporting the organizations Online Leadership Programs as well as developer and editor of their widely read youth media-focused blog http://olpglobalkids.org.
