Where are the RezEd pictures? Filters and RezEd

RezEd.org is using the Ning network to serve up their pictures. This is causing some problems with Internet filters at school districts. We use 8e6's Internet filtering appliances in our district. The pictures at RezEd were being blocked under R-Rated and Communities categories. We had these categories set to "warn" (a pop-up would display for staff warning them that these sites might violate board policy, but they could proceed by accepting the warning). To get the RezEd pictures to display properly for staff we had to set these two categories to "pass" for all staff. We could not whitelist the Ning network, as that would have opened it up for everyone (including students). There are some questionable Ning sites out there, and I am sure others will have filtering issues with their IT shops and district Internet filters. But now you know why they are not displaying if you are being filtered.

Bummer. Thanks.

Flickr is also usually blocked by filters due to some of the adult content. Servers are tagged into categories with the filtering companies. Those categories are what districts use to block/pass/warn on access. Unless you host your own images, you're going to get caught by this (and the servers are by IP source address, not just name).

Thank you Stan, Do you have any advice about what we can do instead? We have the option to import images from Flickr, but I presume that is from one particular account, as opposed to a flickr tag. Would you know?
